Sunshine Outlives Storms (SOS) is a five-week program consisting of small groups for children living in single parent families, stepfamilies, or those experiencing painful transitions due to divorce or the death of a parent or grandparent. The children have an opportunity to express their thoughts and questions in a neutral and supportive atmosphere. The adult facilitator in each group is not a counselor, problem solver, or solution giver. He or she is a trained volunteer who loves children.
Available to young people in kindergarten through grade 12, SOS is offered in Winter, Spring and Fall. It is important that students attend all sessions of SOS in the quarter for which they are registered. A parent’s session also is involved during the course of the five weeks. Registration is required. The next session begins in the winter. Be watching for the registration dates.
